Bizee's Free Agent Months End at $149. Nothing in South Carolina Will Tell You When.

A flat $99 buys one year of registered agent service in South Carolina — the registered office, same-day scanning of court papers, and reminders before state deadlines.

We should say what we are before making the case. This site sells the rival product, at $99 a year, and everything below is written to win your signup. SC Registered Agent.org has no neutrality on offer here. Bizee's figures are the ones Bizee publishes, checked in July 2026 and left alone.

The Bundle Is Real Value

Bizee spent years as Incfile and enough owners still say the old name that both belong in the same sentence. Its formation packages carry registered agent coverage at no cost for a period somewhere between three months and a year, sized by the tier a founder picked.

None of that is a trick. If Bizee is preparing and filing your South Carolina articles of organization regardless, the included months are money you genuinely do not spend, and a founder watching every dollar in the first quarter has every reason to take them. We would rather concede the point cleanly than pretend a free thing is not free.

Then the Standalone Rate Arrives

When the bundled window closes, agent service resumes at $149 a year. Whether that lands in month four or month thirteen is decided by a package tier you selected during checkout, possibly a while ago, which is the quietly awkward part: there is no single Bizee expiry date to memorize, because the length varies with what you bought.

Our figure is $99, and it does not have a before and an after.

Bizee SC Registered Agent.org
Opening period Free for 3 to 12 months with formation $99 for twelve months
Rate once standalone $149/year $99/year
Second and later years $149/year $99/year
Five years from signup, standalone $745 $495

Here is the part that catches South Carolina owners specifically, and it has nothing to do with Bizee's conduct.

In a great many states an LLC carries a recurring appointment with the Secretary of State. South Carolina does not create one. The Uniform Limited Liability Company Act that governs companies here never wrote an annual report into the statute, so a South Carolina LLC keeping its default tax treatment sends that office no yearly filing and owes it no yearly fee.

One exception exists, and notice where it lives. An LLC that elects to be taxed as a corporation does pick up a genuine annual report obligation, except the obligation sits with the South Carolina Department of Revenue instead, nowhere near the Secretary of State, and it is not a freestanding document at all: it rides inside the corporate income tax return as a schedule, preceded once by an initial report at registration. So even the South Carolina companies that do hold a recurring state deadline hold it with a tax agency, on a tax form, in a process that never mentions who your registered agent is.

Put those two facts together and the practical result is this. No branch of South Carolina government maintains a yearly touchpoint that would surface a lapsed or expensive agent arrangement to you. The expiry of a free Bizee window will be announced by Bizee, on Bizee's schedule, and by nobody else. If that suits you, fine. If you would rather not depend on it, a flat rate removes the question entirely.

What the Flat Rate Includes

Our $99 covers a South Carolina street address occupying your public filing so your own does not, scanning of anything served on the company inside the same business day with an alert released as it posts, a document archive you can reach at any hour, and a $15 per item charge on routine business mail that we would rather you read here than find on a statement later.

We are not the cheapest name in the category and will not be described that way. BetterLegal publishes $90. Ours belongs to the same low neighbourhood, with the distinction that $99 is the renewal number as well as the opening one, so the arithmetic you do today survives contact with next year.

Leaving Bizee: What South Carolina Asks For

One notice to the South Carolina Secretary of State, ten dollars, and the record updates. Paper and electronic submission are both accepted. Our change of agent page carries the form's full name, the statutory fee, and the step order.

The one rule worth repeating in this space is the sequencing rule. Appoint the replacement before you switch anything off. South Carolina wants the agent line occupied on every day the company is on its books, and that includes the days a change is in transit, so the move runs enroll, file, confirm, cancel. Reverse it and you are betting nothing arrives during the gap.

Timing is otherwise open. Filing while free months are still running loses you nothing except the state's ten dollars and settles the question before a $149 invoice ever forms.
